What is Bagasse?
The word comes from bagage (French) and bagazo (Spanish), meaning refuse or trash. It originally referred to the material left after pressing olives, palm nuts, and grapes. The word eventually came to be used in processing plants such as sugarcane and sugar beets. Today, it usually refers to the byproducts of the sugarcane mill. When you choose Mobi Ecoware products, you're choosing an environmentally friendly option. All of our products are made from bagasse, a sustainable material made from the fibrous substance left behind after the juice of the sugarcane plant is harvested. Bagasse is a great choice for the environment because it is 100% biodegradable. It also doesn't release harmful toxins into the air as some plastics do. Bagasse is a byproduct of the sugarcane industry, so it would otherwise be disposed of or left to rot. Instead of letting it go to waste, we've taken it and created a sustainable material that can be used to make earth-friendly, durable tableware that doesn't contribute to deforestation or global warming.
